Clip to MP3 for Android (com.cliptomp3.app) · Effective October 27, 2026

The short version

  • Clip to MP3 does not collect, store, or share any personal data. We never receive your videos, your MP3s, or anything about you.
  • The app does not request the Internet permission, so it has no way to send your files or information anywhere.
  • Converting happens entirely on your phone. Your videos and MP3s stay on your device.
  • No ads, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking.
  • The app can open only the files you pick yourself with Android's own picker.

1. Who we are

Clip to MP3 is a free Android app (package name com.cliptomp3.app) made by DipFinch ("DipFinch", "we", "us"). It turns videos that are already on your phone into MP3 audio files, and it includes a music player for those files and for songs you add from your phone. This policy explains how the app handles your information. You can reach us any time at [email protected].

2. What we collect

Nothing. Clip to MP3 doesn't collect personal data of any kind. It has no account or sign-up, and it doesn't include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking tools. The app doesn't request the Android Internet permission, so it can't connect to the internet, and nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.

If you choose to email us, we'll receive your email address and whatever you write, and we'll use them only to reply to you.

3. What stays on your device

Everything the app works with stays on your phone:

InformationWhere it is keptWhy
Videos you pick or share to the appRead in place on your device. They aren't copied or uploaded. To make the MP3 you asked for
MP3s you makeYour phone's Music folder, in Music/Clip to MP3So you can play them here and in other music or file apps
PlaylistsInside the app, plus a playlist file (.m3u8) in Music/Clip to MP3So your playlists can be used here and by other music players
Songs you add from your phoneA list of the songs you picked, kept inside the app. The songs themselves aren't copied. To play them and add them to playlists
Settings, such as quality and light or dark modeInside the appTo remember your choices

The app's own settings and lists are excluded from Android's app backup, so they aren't copied to a cloud backup by the app. MP3s and playlist files in your Music folder are ordinary files on your phone. If you use a backup or sync service on your phone, it may include them according to your own settings for that service.

4. Files you choose

Picking or sharing videos

When you tap to pick a video, the app opens Android's own file picker. You can also share a video to Clip to MP3 from your gallery or file manager. Either way, the app can read only the videos you chose. It doesn't scan your photos, videos, or music library.

Add songs from phone

"Add songs from phone" uses the same system picker, limited to audio. The app can read only the songs you select. It keeps permission to read those files so they still play after you close and reopen the app. It reads the title, artist, length, and cover art stored in each file so it can show them. It doesn't copy the files, and removing a song from Clip to MP3 never deletes your original.

Your Clip to MP3 folder

If you reinstall the app, it may ask you to choose the Music/Clip to MP3 folder so it can list MP3s it made before. That gives the app access to that one folder only.

The app doesn't request broad storage access, photo or music library access, or access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.

5. App permissions

  • Notifications (Android 13 and newer ask you): used to show conversion progress with Skip and Stop, a "Your MP3 is ready" notice when a conversion finishes, and the playback controls in the notification shade and on the lock screen. The app explains this before Android asks. You can say no, and converting still works. You can change this any time in Android settings.
  • Foreground services: these let a conversion you started keep going, and let music you started keep playing, after you leave the app or turn off the screen. While one is running, Android shows a notification. Android doesn't ask you about these.
  • Keep the phone awake: used so the phone doesn't fall asleep partway through a long conversion you started.
  • Audio settings and vibration: standard permissions used for playing audio and for system feedback.

Clip to MP3 does not request the Internet permission.

6. Sharing and selling

We don't sell or share any information, because we don't have any. If you tap Share on an MP3, Android's share menu opens and you choose where the file goes. What happens to it after that is up to you and the app you share it with.

The About page lists the open-source software the app uses, with their licenses. If you tap a link there, such as the link to the LAME encoder's source code, it opens in your web browser. The browser and the website are covered by their own privacy policies, not this one. Clip to MP3 itself still doesn't connect to the internet.

8. Keeping and deleting your files

  • MP3s: kept in Music/Clip to MP3 until you delete them, in the app or with any file manager. Uninstalling the app doesn't delete them, so you won't lose your music by accident.
  • Settings, playlists, and your list of added songs: kept inside the app until you change them or uninstall the app.
  • Songs you added from your phone: never changed or deleted by the app. Removing one only takes it off the app's list.

9. Children

Clip to MP3 is a general-audience utility and isn't directed at children under 13. The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a future version of the app changes how information is handled, for example by adding a feature that needs the internet, we'll update this policy before that version is released and tell you about the change in the app.
